Since 2006 Rio Grande Return has played a leading role in the protection, restoration and enhancement of thousands of acres of springs, creeks, associated wetlands and agricultural lands on tribal, public and private lands in New Mexico.

In 2020, we expanded our staff to include an on-the-ground restoration team, focusing on riparian restoration through revegetation efforts, removal of invasive vegetation, and in-stream installations. For more information on this work, including the restoration work facilitated by Rio Grande Return since 2009, check out our Restoration Program projects.

In 2021, we expanded our scope to include a Habitat Conservation Program, which encompasses native plant propagation and conversions of agricultural field into wildlife habitat.
