Where We Work
Restoring the health of rivers, wetlands, and wildlife habitats
Since our founding in 2007, Rio Grande Return has been committed to restoring the health of rivers, wetlands, and wildlife habitats across New Mexico. In 2020, we significantly expanded our impact – and since then, we’ve completed over 50 projects that span a growing geographic footprint.
While our roots are in the Rio Grande Basin, our restoration work now reaches into neighboring watersheds as well. Most of our efforts focus on on-the-ground ecological restoration, but we’ve also broadened our scope to include strategic planning, ecological assessments, and watershed-scale prioritization.
Every project we take on is chosen for its potential to accelerate and scale up restoration – building healthier ecosystems and more resilient communities.

We need your support
We all have a responsibility to repair what we've broken. Our restoration and conservation work is made possible through federal, state, and private funders like you. Your donation will help us keep the lights on while supporting our field work.
