Albuquerque, NM, 2021 – present

In a collaborative venture with Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District and the City of Albuquerque, we are working to convert historic agricultural fields in Candelaria Nature Preserve to wildlife habitat using existing agricultural infrastructure. Beginning in June 2021, 7 acres of fields were planted with a diverse mix of crops to provide forage and habitat for migratory birds, pollinators and arthropods throughout the seasons. These fields will continue to be cultivated as wildlife forage and habitat using no-till practices to minimize soil disturbance.

Additional project scope includes youth and community engagement both in ecological monitoring and an on-site plant nursery, growing out plants for use in other fields in later phases of this project.
