A Wetland Action Plan (WAP) is a guide for the planning and implementation of projects essential to the understanding, conservation, protection, restoration and management of wetlands. RGR has participated in two WAPs under contracts with the New Mexico Environment Department:

  • RGR led a collaborative planning process and wrote the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division WAP. The WAP addressed actions for five open space properties that function as vestiges of historically abundant wetlands along the Rio Grande. See the WAP here.
  • RGR worked with Amigos Bravos to assess wetlands in the Beaver Creak Watershed for the Cruces Basin Wilderness WAP. These headwater wetlands are particularly important for water storage and return flow to high elevation streams. Our team gathered data to prioritize wetland restoration sites, created a restoration toolbox for wilderness areas, developed conceptual restoration plans, recommended restoration techniques, and co-wrote the WAP. See the WAP here.
